GYN Cytology
Women’s Health Laboratories offers the Hologic ThinPrep Pap Test with the ThinPrep Imaging System for Pap testing. All liquid based cytology specimens are analyzed with the respective imaging system to ensure the highest quality diagnosis and fewest number of equivocal and ASC-US diagnoses. Please contact Client Services to ensure that you have the appropriate collection kits and shipping instructions for ThinPrep specimens.
Human Papilloma Virus Testing
Women’s Health Laboratories offers the most comprehensive portfolio of HPV testing available.
The Roche cobas® HPV Test is the only clinically validated, FDA-approved assay that simultaneously provides pooled results on high-risk genotypes and individual results on the highest-risk genotypes, HPV 16, HPV 18, and HPV 12 other pooled. cobas® HPV test utilizes amplification of target viral DNA by the PCR and nucleic acid hybridization technology. The Roche cobas® HPV Test is also now FDA cleared for use as a first-line primary screening test for cervical cancer in women 25 and older. Women’s Health Laboratories is one of the first national laboratories to offer this new Roche cobas® HPV PRIMARY SCREENING assay.
Women’s Health Laboratories offers a variety of HPV reflex options including an ASCCP Guided Panel that reflexes to HPV based upon the Pap diagnosis and age of the patient.
Microbiome Pathogen Identification (MicroPathID) – Vaginal Pathogen Panel
Microbiome Pathogen Identification (MicroPathID) is a highly multiplexed PCR technology that provides accurate detection of bacterial, viral and fungal pathogens affecting human health, and is three to five times more sensitive than conventional culture. The Vaginal Pathogen Panel (VPP), identifies and quantifies up to 29 varieties of bacteria, yeast and parasites that may be the cause of vaginitis and reports the relative abundance of good and bad bacterial species.

Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) Panel: Atopobium vaginae, BVAB2, Gardnerella vaginalis, Megasphaera 1, Megasphaera 2, Mobiluncus mulieris, Prevotella bivia, Mobiluncus curtisii, Mycoplasma hominis, Ureaplasma urealyticum, Lactobacilli crispatus, Lactobacilli gasseri, Lactobacillus jensenii, Lactobacillus iners
Aerobic Vaginitis (AV) Panel: Enterococcus faecalis, Escherichia coli, Streptococcus agalactiae (Group B), Staphylococcus aureus
STI Panel: Chlamydia trachomatis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Trichomonas vaginalis, Mycoplasma genitalium
Candida Panel: Candida albicans, Candida glabrata, Candida tropicalis, Candida parapsilosis, Candida dubliniensis, Candida krusei, Candida lusitaniae
Lesion Panel: HSV-1, HSV-2, Treponema pallidum

Histology & Special Stains
Women’s Health Laboratories is also focused on routine histologic diagnosis of tissue biopsies. We are equipped with the latest technology and processes including a comprehensive menu of IHC and special stains to address all gynecologic conditions. We pride ourselves on our diagnostic expertise and advances in the area of minimally invasive tissue biopsy procedure and tissue processing.
General Cytology
Cytologic evaluation is available for all brushings, aspirates, fluids or sputum specimens. Please contact our Client Service department to ensure that you have the appropriate collection kits and shipping instructions for cytology specimens.
Microbiology
Cultures and sensitivities are available upon request. Please contact Client Services to learn more information about our microbiology offering and to acquire the appropriate collection kits.
